No gold standard?

No promises of skyrocketing? No mention of multiple championships? No references to the Patriots, the Steelers, the 49ers?

What kind of State of the Eagles address was that Thursday from one Jeffrey Lurie.

"We're humble," he said.

Humble?

Since when?

What kind of fun is that?

How are columnists supposed to survive this year without a comment to hold over the Eagles' heads all season?

Humble? Them?

Lurie should have predicted a perfect season. He should have said he already has the parade route planned. He should have ended the conference by announcing that Super Bowl championhship caps were on sale in the souvenir tent.

Then again ...
