New date for Delco boxing card

There is a new date for the "Champions of Tomorrow" boxing card at The Deck in Essington.

The professional boxing show, promoted by Damon Feldman, will be held Thursday, June 27. Originally, it was scheduled for June 20. According to Feldman, the date change was necessitated by  a conflict with another event scheduled at The Deck.

Among the scheduled boxers are Tim Witherspoon Jr. and Bruce Seldon Jr., the sons of former heavyweight stars, South Philly heavyweight John Mercurio and popular Delaware lightweight Joey Tiberi.

Phillies getting interesting

Don't give up on Phillies yet

The Phillies are on a four-game winning streak.

They are hitting each other with shaving-cream pies.

They are registering big innings.

Their bullpen has settled.

They have three strong starting pitchers, including Cole Hamels, even if he only improved to 2-9 with a 6-1 victory over the Miami Marlins Wednesday.

Domonic Brown has an MVP candidacy going.

Jonathan Papelbon has been perfect.

Carlos Zambrano might help at some point.

Ryan Howard is running strong again.

Jimmy Rollins ... is ... taking ... pitches.

Hmmmmmmm?

“I think we are definitely headed in the right direction,” Howard said. “So we want to take what we have and build on it. I think what it is is that we are having more fun now, a lot more fun. Things are a lot looser. We are just going out to play and having more fun.”

The Phils are 30-30 ... and are starting to have some fun again.

What's it mean? It means that they yet could do something big this season. That's what it means.

By the way, Roy Halladay said Wednesday that he expects to pitch again this season. So there's that, too.
